Liposuction in Plano, TX
Body contouring with an internationally board certified plastic surgeon
Reviewed by Dr. Jaime Haidenberg, internationally board certified plastic surgeon with 20+ years of experience
Is Liposuction Right for You?
Liposuction removes pockets of fat that diet and exercise have not changed. It is a body contouring procedure, not a weight loss treatment, and it works best for people who are already close to a stable, healthy weight.
You may be a good candidate if you:
- Are in good general health and do not smoke, or are willing to stop before and after surgery
- Have localized fat in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, arms or under the chin
- Have skin with enough elasticity to adjust after fat is removed
- Have a stable weight and realistic expectations about the result
Liposuction removes fat, not loose skin. If excess skin is your main concern, a procedure such as a tummy tuck or a banana roll lift may be a better fit, and Dr. Haidenberg will recommend the approach that makes sense for you.
Liposuction Options at Plano Plastic Surgery
Liposuction is not one-size-fits-all. Dr. Haidenberg uses different approaches depending on the area and your goals, and each has its own page with the details.
Power-Assisted Liposuction
360 Liposuction
Neck Liposuction
Common Treatment Areas
Abdomen and waist
Treats stubborn fat in the upper and lower abdomen and around the waistline. If loose skin or separated abdominal muscles are also a concern, Dr. Haidenberg may recommend a tummy tuck alongside or instead of liposuction.
Flanks (love handles)
Flanks (love handles): Removes the fat that collects at the sides of the waist. It is often treated together with the abdomen and back as part of 360 liposuction.
Back and bra line
Back and bra line: Addresses fat along the back and around the bra line. When excess skin is part of the picture, a bra line back lift may be discussed at your consultation.
Thighs
Thighs: Treats fat on the outer and inner thighs. Liposuction does not tighten loose skin, so a thigh lift may be recommended when loose skin is the main concern.
Upper arms
Upper arms: Removes fat from the upper arms. If there is also loose skin that hangs from the arm, an arm lift may be the better fit.
Chin and neck
Chin and neck: Removes fat under the chin and along the jawline to refine the profile, as described on our neck liposuction page. Loose skin and neck bands are treated differently, often with a neck lift.
Not sure whether your area is a fit? Bring your questions to a consultation, and Dr. Haidenberg will tell you what is realistic for your anatomy.
Liposuction for Men
Men often choose liposuction for the abdomen, flanks and chest. When enlarged breast tissue is the concern, liposuction is often part of gynecomastia surgery.
One common treatment area for men is their chest. For men whose enlarged chest is mostly fat, liposuction can remove that fat. When glandular tissue is involved, gynecomastia surgery may combine liposuction with removing that tissue.

What to Expect from Liposuction in Plano
Your Consultation
Your consultation covers your goals and medical history. Dr. Haidenberg examines the areas that concern you, explains which technique fits, reviews the risks and benefits, and goes over pricing and payment options.
Surgery Day
Liposuction is performed in a surgical setting with anesthesia. Dr. Haidenberg makes small incisions, treats the planned areas and closes the incisions. Most liposuction is an outpatient procedure, so you go home the same day with someone to drive you.
Recovery
Every patient heals differently, and recovery depends on the technique and the areas treated. As a general guide:
- First days: swelling, bruising and soreness are expected, and you wear a compression garment as directed
- Weeks 1 to 3: most patients return to light activity within about 2 to 3 weeks and add exercise gradually with Dr. Haidenberg’s approval
- Months 1 to 3: swelling keeps settling and contours become more refined
- Months 3 to 6: final results are usually visible
Each technique page has recovery details specific to that procedure.
Liposuction Cost in Plano and Payment Options
The cost of liposuction depends on the number and size of the areas treated, the technique used, the amount of fat removed, whether liposuction is combined with another procedure, and anesthesia and facility fees. Because every plan is different, Dr. Haidenberg gives you a personalized quote after your consultation.
We offer financing options so you can spread the cost into monthly payments. Learn more on our patient financing page, then schedule a consultation to find out what a plan would look like for you.

Liposuction FAQs
How much does liposuction cost in Plano?
The cost depends on the areas treated, the technique, the amount of fat removed and whether liposuction is combined with another procedure. Dr. Haidenberg gives you a personalized quote after your consultation. We also offer financing options, and you can read about them on our patient financing page.
Can liposuction remove 20 pounds?
Liposuction is designed for body contouring, not weight loss. The amount of fat that can be removed safely depends on your body, your health and the areas being treated, and Dr. Haidenberg sets that limit with you at your consultation. Removing a large volume of fat in one session increases risk, so patients who want to lose a significant amount of weight are usually better served by reaching a stable weight first.
What happens 10 years after liposuction?
Fat cells removed during liposuction do not grow back, so treated areas can keep their shape for years. The fat cells that remain can still expand if you gain weight, and your skin keeps aging, so long-term results depend on keeping a stable weight and healthy habits.
What is the downside to liposuction?
Like any surgery, liposuction has risks. Common effects include swelling, bruising, soreness and temporary numbness. Less common risks include contour irregularities, loose skin, fluid collection, infection and complications from anesthesia. Dr. Haidenberg reviews the risks that apply to you at your consultation, and following his before and after surgery instructions helps lower your chance of problems.
Am I a good candidate for liposuction?
The best candidates are in good general health, close to a stable weight, and have localized fat and skin with reasonable elasticity. Liposuction removes fat, not loose skin, so if excess skin is your main concern, a procedure such as a tummy tuck may be a better fit. The only way to know for sure is a consultation with Dr. Haidenberg.
How long is recovery after liposuction?
Recovery varies by technique and by the areas treated. Most patients return to light activity within about 2 to 3 weeks, wear a compression garment as directed, and add exercise gradually with Dr. Haidenberg’s approval. Swelling keeps improving for several months, and final results are usually visible around 3 to 6 months.
What is the difference between 360 liposuction, power-assisted liposuction and neck liposuction?
360 liposuction treats the abdomen, flanks and back together to contour the whole midsection. Power-assisted liposuction describes how the fat is removed, using a cannula that vibrates rapidly, and can be used on many areas. Neck liposuction treats fat under the chin and along the jawline. Dr. Haidenberg recommends the approach that matches your goals.
